Presidential candidate Megan Schreier is for improving education. She agrees with No Child Left Behind but agrees that their needs to be changes made to it.
Schreier is against universal healthcare. As it is now, she is against Title 19 and Medicaid. Megan feels the programs are abused, however, she is willing to help people who are working and making an effort.
When it comes to the issue of jobs going over seas, Schreier is against it. "If I am elected, I want to work with big businesses to keep jobs here, in America."-Megan Schreier
Schreier is willing to give tax breaks to big businesses in an effort to create and keep jobs in America.
Miss Schreier,
ReplyDeleteI wish to direct a comment toward your views on health care. You are not in favor of the new universal program as well as Title 19/Medicaid. What efforts are you planning to take to improve these programs for the people?
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cari Teske
BCLUW Educator
Mrs. Teske, thank you for commenting on our blog. Megan is planning to create more regulations to provide help for people who really need Title 19/ Medicaid. She would like to find some way to cover everybody, but doesn't feel that money should be handed out freely.
ReplyDeleteMiss Schreier,
ReplyDeleteAs an educator, what changes do you think need to be made to NCLB? Are they portions you think we should keep and portions to get rid of completely?
Ms. Gaskill, thank you for the questions. Megan thinks that looking at standardized test scores is not enough to tell the progress of students. Some students are may do fine in school, but test bad. Also, Megan thinks that the restrictions on what a teacher may teach need to be lightened. A class should have to learn about some specific things, but after that the teachers should be able to choose what students should learn. Another thing Megan wants changed in schools is focusing more on the basic reading, writing, and mathematics, and less on social skills. We are trying to make sure our kids can socialize with each other more than they can read. One thing Megan likes about NCLB is that teachers must be qualified to teach a certain subject.

ReplyDeleteMiss Schreier,
ReplyDeleteI'm curious as to what type of tax breaks your plan to give businesses in the U.S. to keep jobs here. Are you more for big businesses or small businesses?
Ms. Gaskill, the tax breaks I would plan on giving businesses in the U.S. would be property and manufacturing taxes. I feel that if those taxes were lower, businesses would have a chance to open more stores, in turn creating more jobs. I am also for both big and small businesses. I feel big businesses create a lot of jobs, but small businesses create a wide variety of stores and products. Many of these small businesses have been around for many years and it would be a shame to tax them so much they close.
ReplyDeleteMiss Schreier,
ReplyDeleteJust curious about what political party to are siding with? Are you a Republican, Democrat, or Independent? Who do you consider to be your political allies based on the ideologies that you share?
Megan identifies herself as Independent, but she sways more toward the Republican party than the Democratic party. Currently, a lot of issues are being debated in the Senate. On the issue of healthcare, Megan sides with Senator Chuck Grassley.
ReplyDeleteAre the any politicans that would great oppose her based on her views?
ReplyDeleteTom Harkin just voted against the Bush Tax cuts which Megan agrees with. He also is for the legalization of abortion which she is against. Megan Schreier am pro-life.
